Exclusive Villas on the beautiful island of Barbados |
Travillas has an exciting selection of Barbados Villas for you to choose from. Barbados is one of the larger islands in the Caribbean and is well equipped for tourism offering something for everyone. The island is much flatter than most other islands and consequently drier, with hardly any rivers. There are however plenty of white sandy beaches, beautiful rolling countryside with fields of sugar cane, colorful bustling villages, flowering trees and wide open pastures giving the island a fresh, open feel with space to escape the hustle and bustle of the towns. There is a great diversity of landscape and life in Barbados, as you would expect from such a large, densely populated island so there is always something new to try or explore which makes it ideal for people looking for a bit of variety in their holiday.

| What to see in Barbados There are many different areas of Barbados and if you want to explore much of it, you will need transport to get around. The capital is Bridgetown in the south-west of the island and although the city itself covers a fairly small area it is busy and full of life with shops, bars, restaurants, markets. In the Garrison area of the capital there are many historical sites to explore including Trafalgar Square with a statue of Lord Nelson which predates its London equivalent by 36 years.
With a car you can explore the many parts of the island, each with its own individual charm. There is a startling array of beaches to explore along the coast, there are also many sugar refineries and rum distilleries open to visitors, as sugar is still the main crop here. Galleries, museums, churches, gardensm and nature reserves are also many of the attractions offered on the island.
| What to do in Barbados The choice of activities on the island is vast, whether you want a packed itinerary with loads to see and do or just a relaxing break draped on the beach with a rum punch, the choice is yours. Watersports facilities are excellent with many beachside tourist outlets hiring out equipment or offering tuition for windsurfing, diving, surfing, sailing, snorkelling, water skiing, and deep-sea fishing.. There is also a diving submarine at Shallow Draft Harbour for observing the underwater world without getting wet.
Other sports available on the island as a participant or just a spectator include golf, horseracing and riding, polo, water polo, tennis and cricket amongst others. Barbados is also one of the best islands in the Caribbean for shopping, with older style street markets and local craft shops jostling for space with up-to-date malls - truly a shoppers paradise.
